Metal leaf is sold by the book or by the box. A book of metal leaf contains 25 leaves; a box is made up of 20 books. A full box contains 500 leaves.

Leaf has the following standard sizes:

• Real metal leaf: 3¾" x 3¾" (See 'Varieties of Metal Leaf' for descriptions)
• Imitation or Composition metal leaf: 5½" x 5½"
