Great Sketchbook (5/5) Jun 1, 2009 Nicholas Avallone Saugerties Ne US
I do all my larger-scale sketching on the 9x12 Wirebound Ecru version. The wire binding allows you to completely fold back the cover, and the ecru tint is just off-white enough to allow the addition of highlights in white pencil/gouche if needed. The surface has a bit of tooth, which is fine for most applications (although I wish there were a smooth-surface variation: I'd buy both!) The paper feels a lot heavier than 70 lb. -- much closer to cover stock -- which is fantastic: it's so opaque that you can't see through to images on underlying pages. The pages also stand up to tons of repeated erasure without messing up the surface. Next to smaller Moleskin sketchbooks, this is the only sketchbook I use.
