GOLDEN OPEN Acrylic Sets

GOLDEN OPEN Acrylics represent the newest innovation from the folks at GOLDEN. They are designed to increase the open time of acrylic paint, greatly expanding the variety of techniques available to acrylic artists.

OPEN Acrylics remain wet for a long period of time, unlike most acrylics. They also will not produce a skin on the palette during long painting sessions. Painters can control the drying time of OPEN Acrylics depending on the thickness of the paint application. A thin application will "tack-up" allowing additional layers and blending, while thicker applications may be worked for hours. Applications over 1/16” will dry EXTREMELY slow. To speed drying time, OPEN Acrylics can be blended with faster-drying GOLDEN Acrylics and Gel Mediums.

Unique, relaxed working properties
GOLDEN OPEN Acrylics' unique and remarkably relaxed set of working properties lend themselves well to blending, softening, shading, glazing and fine detail. OPEN Acrylics can be used with natural fiber brushes and in a large range of techniques including portraiture, plein air painting, monoprinting, and screenprinting.

2 mediums & 1 additive for ultimate control
OPEN Mediums and Thinner give you the flexibility to alter the working time of OPEN Acrylics. OPEN Acrylic Gel (Gloss) helps adjust color strength and translucency while maintaining consistency. OPEN Acrylic Medium (Gloss) is formulated to a lower viscosity for a more fluid mixture with increased flow. OPEN Thinner contains no binder and is used to maintain and adjust the workability of colors on the palette without the need for water mist or moisturizing palettes.

Compatible with GOLDEN products
OPEN Acrylics may be blended with GOLDEN Acrylics and Gel Mediums to change opacity or alter consistency, while proportionately speeding up drying and shortening working time. However, it is not recommended to apply fast-drying products over wet layers of OPEN Acrylics.
