Silk Painting @ REX ART

Silk Painting: it’s watercolor onto silk. The lustrous quality of the silk is both seductive and vibrant and offers a new and exciting medium for creative expression.

Explore the diverse and fascinating world of Fine Art Fabric through a study of fabric patterning techniques. Using Jacquard paints, the workshop will cover all techniques associated with Silk Painting. This will culminate in the students holding a broad understanding of this rich and complex medium. Suitable for all levels of ability.

Instructor Bio:

CeliaCelia Buchanan is a mixed media artist and holds a B.A. in 2-D surface design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, Scotland, and an M.A. in arts management in education from the City University, London. Celia’s work has been featured in galleries notably the Institute of Education, London, National Exhibition Center, U.K. and The London Design Center. The author of several books and magazine articles on surface design and fiber arts, Celia has been working in her field for over two decades. She now works and lives in SE FL, teaches throughout the USA and works as a materials consultant for art material manufacturers from Europe, Australia and the United States.

Still Life Drawing and Painting for Beginners @ REX ART

Enjoy an introductory drawing and painting class at Rex Art, South Florida’s oldest art supplier since 1950. This class is perfect for the beginning artist and will feature the use of charcoal, graphite, paint and collage to let your creative juices flow in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The class is taught by veteran artist and teacher Celia Buchanan who has over 25 years’ experience.

Ideal for all experience levels. Develop painting skills and Faux Finishing Techniques essential for the Artist or Interior Decorator. This class explores the creation of  beautiful surfaces using texture and color, incorporating faux and glazing techniques that can be applied in a myriad of applications from fine art to home decor.
