Familiarize yourself with painting with acrylics. Explore the diverse methods of application and expand your creative expression with this medium. The class will mainly cover traditional painting methods but will introduce some of the more contemporary techniques as well.

Educator Bio: CELIA BUCHANAN holds a B.A. in 2-D surface design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, Scotland and an M.A. in arts management in education from the City University, London. Her work has been featured in galleries around the world, notably the Institute of Education, London, National Exhibition Center, U.K., The London Design Center and the City of Hallandale Culture Center.  Lecturer at the Boca Museum of Art and the author of several books and magazine articles on surface design and fiber arts, she now teaches in the U.S. and works as a materials consultant for art material manufacturers in Europe, Australia and the United States.

Mixed Media Done Right:

An exploration of multi-media techniques using watemedia, soft and oil pastels, acrylics, oils, hot and cold encausic wax and beyond.

The workshop will cover the creation and use of various grounds and surfaces. Discover how to correctly construct rich texture, eye popping opulence, subtle vignettes and exquisite detail. The possibilities are endless and there’s sure to be something for everyone. All techniques have been designed with the highest archival stability in mind. Attendees will leave the experience with a good understanding of material interaction and how to create beautiful durable finishes in their artwork.

Learn to create one of a kind single color, subtractive and polychromatic relief mono prints. The beauty of this medium is in its simplicity, spontaneity and combination of printmaking, painting and drawing techniques.

Used in combination with other painting and drawing techniques encaustic can bring incredible depth and richness to your work.

Silk Painting: it’s watercolor onto silk. The lustrous quality of the silk is both seductive and vibrant and offers a new and exciting medium for creative expression.

Explore the diverse and fascinating world of Fine Art Fabric through a study of fabric patterning techniques. Using Jacquard paints, the workshop will cover all techniques associated with Silk Painting. This will culminate in the students holding a broad understanding of this rich and complex medium. Suitable for all levels of ability.
